SC CWP COURSE INFORMATION
This course is a one day South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) class certified by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). Classes are held on a regularly scheduled basis. (Please check our training calendar for available classes or email our Training Department). The total cost of the class is $65.00. You may reserve a seat in a class by making full payment in person at the store or by phone. We accept Credit/Debit Cards, Checks, Money Order, or Cash. Class will begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Students are required by law to attend the entire course. Note: Payments are NOT refundable, however with advance notice, a student can be rescheduled for another date.
The first portion of the class will be held in a classroom indoors and the second portion will be held at the Firing Range for the required qualification.
The cost of the Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) class includes required paperwork copies and fingerprints taken by an experienced SLED certified fingerprint technician.
What to bring to class:
1. Bring your pistol ( UNLOADED ) and 50 rounds of ammunition. Ammunition is also available from our store at market prices.
2. Your SC Drivers License. Make sure address is correct. A copy will be made and notarized on class day to be attached to your application as proof of residence. If you prefer to bring your own copy make sure it is clear and legible. Also paper for notes and a black ink pen.
3. Eye and ear protection.
4. A suitable holster that fits the firearm you are using properly. . MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A BELT FOR THE HOLSTER. For safety reasons on the range holsters must be strong side ( i.e if you are right handed on your right side). No shoulder holsters, cross-draw, or inside the pants holsters allowed for range qualification.
5. Be sure and have suitable clothing to be outside at least 1-2 hours while at the range.
6. If you were given forms prior to class make sure that you bring them with you. Also, bring any balance remaining for the course fee if applicable.
There are no chairs or benches at the range. You are welcome to bring along a lawn chair if you wish. We will have water available at the range but feel free to bring your own drinks. ( No Alcohol )
What you will need to send to SLED: (this will also be covered in class)
1. Your SLED application certified by Instructor. You can also go to SLED's website at http://www.sled.sc.gov/documents/CWPApplicationForm.pdf and fill out and download your application and bring it to class with you to save time.
2. SLED Training Certificate ( Issued at end of class )
3. Two fingerprint cards.
4. A notarized copy of your DL.
5. A money order or certified check made out to SLED for $50 ( Note: This is separate from the $65 class fee that you pay to DCM Consulting LLC for the class. (I.E. you will pay a total of $115 in fees to get your CWP). You renew the CWP after 4 years but you only take the class once. Cash or personal checks are accepted for the class fee but not accepted by SLED for the SLED processing fee.
NOTE: ALL PAPERWORK ABOVE IS DONE IN CLASS AND YOU LEAVE AT THE END OF THE DAY WITH EVERYTHING IN HAND TO SEND TO SLED ( EXCEPT FOR THE $50 CHECK TO SLED ) INCLUDING A PRE-ADDRESSED MAILING ENVELOPE. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MAIL EVERYTHING IN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CLASS BUT THE SOONER YOU SEND IT IN THE SOONER YOU WILL GET YOUR PERMIT BACK.
